Counseling, Peer 2 Peer support and Friendly Visitor Programs

Emotional and Social Support for older adults (209) 558-8698

The Area Agency on Aging in Stanislaus County offers free programs aimed at the "Prevention and Early Intervention" of loneliness and depression in older adults. There is no cost for any of the programs and all are available in the comfort of the seniors’ home. Services are for those 60 years of age or older that reside in Stanislaus County.

Signs of worsening depression may include depressed mood and loss of interest, alterations in sleep, appetite, and energy. People often don’t realize they are becoming depressed and don’t seek help. Depression can greatly affect people, lower quality of life, and ability to live independently. Seniors that live alone or are self-isolating are at higher risk of developing depression. There is help available.
